The Salamander Bay Men’s Shed is holding a Breathe Easy Expo for the community on July 13 from 10am to 12 noon. The expo will be followed by a sausage sizzle. Jim Eves of the Salamander Men’s Shed told News Of The Area, “This is all about raising awareness of the options available to minimise the impact of light air borne dust.” The Men’s Shed is delivering the Breathe Easy Expo to create awareness around the issue. It is Jim’s belief that a mask is better than no mask. The expo will also allow locals to see how the Men’s Shed manages the removal of airborne dust and chemicals with its new dust management system which was installed at the facility thanks to a grant from Clubs NSW. The Men’s Shed is a not for profit which provides a place for men regardless of age, background or ability where they can be respected, valued and can comfortably pass on their skills and knowledge. The men work together on projects and learn as they go, each one is a learner and a teacher, and while together they can also enjoy a cuppa and a chat, connecting them to the community. The members of the Men’s Shed come together to help their local community. Importantly the members can talk about things which are important to them, improve their wellbeing, and stay active both physically and mentally. Membership of the Men’s Shed is only $5 per year with an additional fee chargeable for insurance of $25. The public are encouraged to come along and find out more about the Men’s Shed and how to protect yourself from dust and fumes. The Men’s Shed is located at 360 Soldiers Point Road Salamander Bay within the Recycling Centre. By Marian SAMPSON
