Bus Coordinator, Annie Fowler, told News of the Area, “I prepare the roster for our drivers for six months at a time which is fantastic as I always have volunteers on tap to transport people to their medical appointments and these appointments can range from seeing doctors/specialists to having an asthma pump checked – basically anything medical. “One morning I received a telephone call from the Mater Hospital asking if our clinic bus could collect a patient who had been transported by ambulance but had no way of getting back home to Tea Gardens so we were able to offer welfare assistance to that patient.” The service covers visits for optical, dental, x-ray, radiation, pathology, visits to patients in hospitals and out of town nursing homes with carers most welcome. At the time of writing this story, News of the Area was informed the free clinic bus would be operating Monday to Friday every week. For bookings phone the clinic bus coordinator on 0403 657 195 and the coordinator will assist with your booking. By Ann SCULLY
