Mick Millett, the Seabreeze Hotel’s new licensee, has recently returned from the Variety NSW AHA Bash which kicked off from Newcastle last month and travelled through Canberra, Wagga Wagga and West Wyalong.

The charity event raises much needed funds to support regional communities, schools and organisations with a focus on health, education and mobility equipment.

The hotel group, which operates the Seabreeze Hotel and Newcastle hotspot The Kent, has been involved in the charity event for the past 12 years with an outlook to continue well into the future.

“Our managing director Stephen Hunt has been right behind the cause for more than a decade and has just purchased a couple of combis to restore and fit out for the 2020 bash,” said Mr Millet.

“The experience was life changing and makes you appreciate how lucky we are to live where we do and have the support we receive day to day.”

The Variety ‘Bashers’ kitted out in superhero costumes and themed their rally cars out to help bring a smile to the kids in the communities they met along the way.

Mick and his rally team were especially moved with one particular stop at the Woden special needs school which looks after students with intellectual disabilities.

“It was really an emotional part of the rally, seeing the joy when the blokes rocked up dressed as Avengers was pretty moving,” said Mr Millett.

“My expectations of the event were just blown, such a heart-warming experience.”

The Seabreeze Hotel is hoping to run some fundraising events for the charity leading into the 2020 event next year.
