After the recent bushfires in the Mambo Wanda Wetlands there has been positive bush regeneration, unfortunately the fires also created an environment where weeds can proliferate. The Soldiers Point Landcare Group are holding a working bee on Wednesday 17 May in Mambo Wanda Wetlands adjacent to the Salamander Shopping Centre car park. Margaret Lamond told News Of The Area, “We will commence at 8:30 am meeting at the South West corner of the car park just beyond the shade cloth barrier fence. “We work until 10:30 and then have a cuppa and chat time,” she said. The Group is targeting the weeds with an emphasis on Bitou and Lantana plus they will be removing litter. Our local Landcare groups also target erosion along the foreshore areas of the Bay and planting species that support our local fauna. By Marian SAMPSON
