Police appeal for information after pedestrian hit by car at Clarence Town Regional News by NOTA - October 8, 2014 Police from Newcastle City Crash Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit by a car in Clarence Town, on the state’s mid-north coast earlier in the week. About 2.45am (Monday 6 October, 2014), a 24-year-old man was located by an off-duty police officer on Clarence Town Road, lying on the side of the roadway suffering injuries. The off-duty officer contacted NSW Ambulance Paramedics who attended the location and conveyed the man to John Hunter Hospital. The man suffered a fractured ankle and lower leg injuries, consistent with being hit by a car. After being questioned by police, the pedestrian is unable to provide police with an account of how he sustained his injuries. Officers have examined the area where the man was located and have so far been unable to locate any evidence of a vehicle being involved. Investigating police would like to speak with anyone who may have been travelling on Clarence Town Road between 2.40 and 2.50am on Monday 6 October, who may have seen a male pedestrian in that area.
