The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia by Mark Hawwa.

It was inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit.

Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, whilst connecting niche motorcycle communities together.

That first ride in 2012 brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities, and the success of the event encouraged the founder to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause.

Influenced by the tragedy of losing one of their ride hosts to depression, from 2016 the ride has had a change of focus in their fundraising goals, and now the funding of Men’s mental health programs is a Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride focus, in addition to prostate cancer research.

Local Gentleman Craig Ireland told News Of The Area, “I will don my finest attire with my fellow men and women across the globe to join the fight with The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men’s mental health.”

“But before I press my tweed, and polish my boots, I need you to donate what you can for this meaningful cause and help me reach my goal.”

For your husbands, sons, uncles, your brothers, your fathers and friends, dig deep, and donate what you can, for their lives need not end.

With less than a week to go, 4777 riders registered in Australia, and 69338 world wide, this is indeed a unique event that bring all countries together to fight this battle.
