SEVEN riders have arrived home safe and sound after a gruelling cycle marathon from Evans Head to Kanahooka, near Wollongong south of Sydney.

The 1,000 kilometre ride took the cyclists through Bulahdelah for a night’s stop over and much needed rest.

“The Bulahdelah community was extremely welcoming to the Cycle 1000 crew,” rider Bianca Starcic told News Of The Area.

“The Greens Bistro at the Bulahdelah Bowling Club was extremely welcoming also providing our riders and support crew with free dinner and soft drinks which was absolutely beautiful,” Bianca said.

“The Bulahdelah community was just incredible.” we had donations received from locals in the community,

“We had locals from the community come and donate money and ask what the cause was, which was so beautiful.”

“Overall, we had a fantastic trip and met fantastic and supportive people along the way,” Bianca said.

The 7 cyclist’s marathon was inspired by the i98FM Illawarra Convoy.

Now in its 13th year the convoy of hundreds of trucks and bikes raises much needed funding for families with children doing it tough due to life threatening medical conditions.

Bianca and her team were hoping to raise $25,000 from their marathon ride, but well and truly surpassed their own expectations, raising a total $43,089.75.
