Forty-eight players braved the cold playing on both surfaces.

The Club welcomed visitors, Ken Eldridge from Donvale Victoria and Wayne Croker from Goulbourn. A new member also joined our club this week; a big welcome to Colin Cameron transferring from Valentine.

Also returning to our Bowls were Geoff Fowler, Ian Baker and Gary Porter, welcome back.

Five teams managed to win both their matches but scores in the low fifties were not going to get a look in.

Peter King, David Garcia and Peter Gurney turned in a magnificent 57 to take the money.

There was no Sunday Bowls today as the weather deterred any start.

Similarly there will be no Sunday Bowls next Sunday, Father’s Day, but the following week, 9 September, the Sunday bowlers are planning a visit to the Belmont “Sporties” Club.

Nominations are on the board.

There were some interesting results today in the second round of the Club Mixed Pairs competition played in almost perfect conditions after the rain cleared away.

Bette and Colin Saillard had a narrow win over Jeannette and Brian Emmett, 14-13.

Robyn and Scott Beaumont continued their winning form defeating Dale Winter and Col Amos 23-9.

Liz and Graham Kelly disposed of the Karen McPhie and Ron Webster challenge winning 14-9, and in the remaining game, Sandra Leisemann and Merv Mills managed a close 15-14 win over Lon and Lynda Richards.

As it is the Father’s Day weekend next week there may be some delay in playing the semi-finals.
