THE Children’s Cancer Institute’s ‘Build for a Cure’ campaign kicked-off on Monday, which will see an entire house built in just 21 days.

Port Stephens’ very own Medowie is the location of this very special house, that will be built in the new ‘Bower Estate’ on Boundary Road.

Build for a Cure aims at building a house in just 21 days, with every single element of the build being donated, and all proceeds from the auction sale of the house being donated to the Children’s Cancer Institute.

Building officially began on Monday 27 August, and kicked off in dramatic fashion with camera crews and local celebrities.

House Reveal Day will take place on 16 September, with the Auction winding this special project up on 21 October.

News Of The Area met with Medowie business Jason Becker Concreting, who have generously donated their time to construct the driveway, ensuring it was ready in time for the build start and the film crews on monday morning.

Katrina Becker told News Of The Area, “When the opportunity to be involved presented itself, we just couldn’t say no.”

“We’re so proud to be a part of this wonderful opportunity in our own home town, and for such an amazing cause.”

Partners involved in this unique, charitable project include;

The McCloy Group, who donated the land in The ‘Bower’ estate, McDonald Jones Home who are donating the build of the house, and Austral Bricks who are donating the bricks for the build.

Freedom Furniture, who will be donating all the furniture, and styling the interior of the house, along with Winning Appliances/ Fisher & Paykel who will be donating all of the appliances.

PRDNationwide will be selling the house, and taking no fees, or charging marketing costs or commissions.

Damien Cooley of Cooley Auctions from ‘The Block’ will auction the house, and the Kurri Rotary Club will be making a mammoth effort by staying on site and ensuring all the tradies donating their time are well fed and hydrated.

Gold Logie winner Scott Cam will be the celebrity ambassador for Build for a Cure in this 4th year, having raised over $2million across the last 3 builds.

Additional ambassadors lending their support will include; McCloy Group ambassador and Newcastle Knights Player Mitchell Pearce, Newcastle Locals and ex-Block Contestants Maxine & Karstan, and other Newcastle Knights players.
