Recently, the 12 year old Hawks Nest youngster competed in her Schools Zone Athletics Carnival and won every personal events she entered.

“She came first in her favourite events, the 100 metre, 200 metre and long jump,” proud dad John Mcgregor said.

“In addition, she took part in discus and shotput events and also won them which was surprising, as she does not have the build and strength for these events, but she has a good technique that carried her through,” John said.

“The exciting thing though, was from her 100m performance where her time as a 12 year old was the fastest time of the day over all age groups up to 18 years old.”

“This being a great warm up for future events.”

In addition to her personal events, Keira was selected to run in both the Juniors (12-14 years) and the Seniors (15-18 years) 4 x 100 metres races.

“She was the final runner in both of these events which were held immediately after each other. In both races she was far behind the other teams on receiving the baton, but ran incredible races and chased those older athletes ahead making up ground and achieving 2nd and 3rd places respectively for her school.”

The Medowie Christian School student is now training hard ahead of two Athletic competitions being held at Sydney’s Olympic Park this month followed by the NSW All Schools State Championship in September.
