TUESDAY 24th July: Social bowls played plus the semi-final of the Club Championship Triples. It was good to see visiting bowlers Dale Cameron and Marie Reinhand join our members for the social bowls. Format for play was a game of 3 bowls Triples 18 ends and a game of Fours 18 ends. The Triples game was a victory for Judi Polak, Sheril Johnson and Jeanette Emmett 24 v Ingrid Luck, Dawn Jones and Carolyn Bywater 17. Marie Reinhand, Christine Fossey, Dawn May and Dale Winter winning with a score of 19 against Dot Dallas, Dorothy Thompson, Bev Stephens and Dale Cameron 11. The winners of the day by drawing a card were Judi, Sheril and Jeanette.

In the Triples semi-final Pam Gilchrist, Lynne Green (substitute player for Carol Hayden) and Lynda Richards were totally out bowled by Bette Saillard, Robyn Webster and Loretta Baker. Lynda’s team losing by 24 shots, the score 32 v 8. A good win for Robyn Beaumont, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson 25 v Karen McPhie, Jill McBride and Lorraine Murphy 15. Thanks to Umpire Sandra Leisemann and Controlling Body Jo Younghusband.

Thursday 26th July: Format for social bowls 1 game 3 bowls Triples and a game of 3 bowls pairs, 12 ends. Pam Gilchrist, Carol Hayden and Jill McBride 16 v Judi Polak, Dorothy Thompson and Lynda Richards 8. Dianne Kiss and Lynne Green 14 v Ingrid Luck and Karen McPhie 11. Now to the final of the Triples game Bette Saillard, Robyn Webster and Loretta Baker v Robyn Beaumont, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson this was a brilliant game of bowls. Bearing in mind that Kayelene’s team were Runners Up in the Open District Triples this year, Loretta’s ladies went out to bowl undaunted by this side’s status. On the 9th end Loretta’s team held the lead 9 v 3. On the next 3 ends Kayelene’s side sent down some great bowls amassing 9 shots, grabbing the lead 12 v 9. With only 3 ends left to bowl the score card read Kayelene 21 v Loretta 12. All the spectators felt the game was “done and dusted” but Bette, Robyn and Loretta obviously didn’t. They added 1 shot to their tally on the 19th end then a massive 5 shots the next end. One end left to bowl Kayelene’s team now only having a 3 shot advantage. The final end was won by Loretta’s ladies but just by 1 shot. Result Cub Championship Triples winners 2018 Robyn Beaumont, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson winning 21 v 19. Congratulations to both teams, great bowling enjoyed by all who watched. Thanks to Umpire Francis Betar and Controlling Body Lynne Green. The winners and Runners Up were presented with badges/certificates by Vice President Pam Gilchrist. The scrumptious lunch following the Presentation was catered for by Myall Bistro and Café. Thanks to our Social Committee for your help on the day. The lucky raffle winner this week was Dale Cameron who was very happy winning the voucher for Myall Bistro and Café.

The next major event on our calendar is the Club Championship Pairs commencing Tuesday 7th August.
