Or media@newsofthearea.com.au Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Handing over the reins to new owners Stacey Brown and her daughter Maddie Harvey last week, Sue and long-term staff member Pauline Gregory said they are going to miss the friendship and camaraderie of their customers. “We have met so many really nice people and developed very good friendships with them over the years,” Sue said. “We’ve bonded with locals and many visitors who continually keep coming back. You get to know their families and their highs and lows and sometimes you are more like a councillor than a newsagent.” After years of a “very hectic lifestyle” starting at the crack of dawn each morning, Sue thanks the community for their support. “I’d like to thank the locals for being so supportive, we couldn’t have come this far without them,” she said. “The bypass hit us badly and without our local customers we would have floundered.” Having taken up their new roles earlier this week, Stacey and Maddie are, “definitely very excited about the challenge ahead”. “We are going to give it the best go we can,” Stacey said. “We are looking forward to providing a good service to the community and meeting lots of new people, both locals and travellers.” Leaving the business in good hands, Sue said she now plans to spend more time with her daughters and grandchildren.
