Local groups can apply for grants of between $1,000 to $5,000 for local events, or up to $10,000 to support regional level events. Acting Shadow Minister for Ageing Kate Washington has encouraged groups in the Hunter to apply for funding to put on local events. Senior Festival 2018 events across the Hunter included Yoga in the Park, croquet come-and-try days, film screenings, information sessions on legal issues for seniors, and social morning teas. The annual Seniors Festival also includes a free Gala Concert, with tickets released closer to the event. Ms Washington said, “Whether it is local morning teas, or the state-wide Gala Concert, the annual Seniors Festival is a celebration of life for older Australians.” “The Seniors Festival also includes important information sessions and workshops for older people on legal issues, healthy living, staying safe in your home,” she said.
