A game of 3 bowls Pairs 21 ends and 3 games of 3 bowls Triples, 18 ends. Sheril Johnson playing “swinger lead”. Unfortunately heavy rain caused play to be discontinued before the set number of ends was played. Results are as follows: Ingrid Luck, Dorothy Thompson and Sandra Leisemann 17 v Lynne Nightingale, Carolyn Bywater and Lynda Richards 10, 15 ends played. After 14 ends Christine Fossey, Jo Younghusband and Karen McPhie scored 28 v Judi Polak, Lily Smith and Jill McBride 9. A good win for Bev Stephens and Maynie Roberts 23 v Bette Saillard and Loretta Baker 8, 20 ends bowled. Thirteen ends bowled in the game where Sheril Johnson played for both sides. Sheril, Pam Gilchrist and Carol Hayden 15 v Sheril, Francis Betar and Julie Kennedy 14. Winners on the day were Ingrid, Dorothy and Sandra determined by a “blind draw”. Jill McBride was the lucky raffle winner. Many thanks to Myall Bistro and Café for their donation of the raffle prize. Wednesday 4th July: The Annual General Meeting for TGWBC. A good attendance of members, great to see Bev Rhodes out and about again. Most of the committee remain in their present positions, Robyn Webster continues as Club President and Karen McPhie Secretary. Pam Gilchrist accepted the Vice President position, as well as Welfare Officer. Prior to the meeting Robyn Webster presented Loyalty Badges (10 years of bowling) to Robyn Beaumont,Dorothy Dallas and Carolyn Bywater (absent). Thursday 5th July: Annual Trophy Day, Lemon Tree Passage v TGWBC. What a fantastic day this was. Perfect weather for bowls, a more than perfect result at the end of play. TGWBC scored 140 v LTP 60. What can I say? Thanks to our social committee Dale Winter, Ingrid Luck, Bette Saillard and the other ladies who helped out on the day. Thanks to Myall Café and Bistro who catered for lunch, it just completed a perfect day. District Competitions: Congratulation to Robyn Webster and Elizabeth Kelly on their progress in the Seniors Pairs. These two ladies have managed to progress to Round 3 of this event defeating teams from Soldiers Point and Raymond Terrace. Unfortunately Bette Saillard and Lynne Green had to withdraw from this competition. Robyn Beaumont and Kayelene Pearson won against Cardiff in the Open division and progress to the next round. Results from these games will be posted in the next issue. Kayelene Pearson and Robyn Beaumont (our district representative bowlers), bowled for Newcastle District against Lake Macquarie District in the annual Friendship Trophy event on Friday 6th July. Newcastle District managed 4 wins and 3 losses. Unfortunately Lake Macquarie were the winners of the trophy 138 v Newcastle 129. By Lynda RICHARDS
