16 May: The very popular Wednesday Nominated Triples attracted 42 keen bowlers braving a very cold southerly wind and not a lot of sunshine.

Only 2 teams won both games and the winners on a count back with +53 points were Danny Johnson, Ross Barry and Bruce Everett.

Also on +53 points were the very consistent team of Mark Hair, Col Amos and Ken Devlin.

The Myall Bistro voucher was won by Stu Sturrock.

18 May: Friday Open Pairs attracted a few more players this week but I guess until the Pennant season is over participants will be in short supply.

19 May: Round 4 of the Newcastle District Pennants was played today with the Pelican Pest Control sponsored Grade 4 side playing away at Mayfield.

They went very close to pulling off a good win but alas, it was not to be with Mayfield winning the Master Board by 8 shots.

The Danny Johnson team recorded a great win 28-16.

The Mark Hair four lost by 2, 16-18, and in the remaining game the Keith Smith combination were out-bowled losing 13-31.

The Pelican Pest Control sponsored Grade 6 side had a bye.

Their next game will be at East Maitland whilst the Fours will also play East Maitland at home.

20 May: Sunday Morning Bowls enjoyed great autumn weather with 18 local bowlers joined by another 14 from a Blacktown reunion of rugby players.

Following 12 ends of bowls, a great meal was served up by master chef George Winter.

Prizes were awarded card draw for best winning lead, second and skip.

Make sure you have your name in for next Sunday.

The Sunday Bowls was followed by the quarter finals of the Club Major Singles Championship.

There were some great match-ups but some of the new challengers would have been disappointed with their results.

Ken Devlin lost to old hand, Jeff Baker, 31-7 and Anthony Grant lost to hot favourite Sean Mearrick 31-5
The exceptions were Ron James who took the game right up to former Club Champion, Richard Lee.

Ron Lost 24-31.

Another notable exception was Peter Cheney, who not having played a game of singles for 30 years, caused an upset beating Ron Webster 31-24.

He will need to retain his form when next week he plays Jeff Baker in the semi-final and in the remaining game Richard Lee will take on Club the 2017 Club Champion, Sean Mearrick.

In other news: The Club Secretary is receiving nominations for election to the Bowling Club Management Committee and early indications are that all positions are likely to be filled for the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 24th June.
