The students all study Highland Dance at Corlette in the Bay. Nance isn’t your everyday dance instructor she is a sprightly octogenarian who has been involved in teaching Scottish Highland Dance for 60 plus years, and she still teaches classes locally in Corlette. Maryann Royes told News Of The Area, “My daughter Genevieve has been dancing with Nance for two years, and she is the sweetest, gentlest, caring teacher who makes learning fun, and it’s a great environment that the girls are in.” Nance herself holds medals for her dancing and still dances with her students. The dancers from Bayside Thistle Highland Dance have been participating at Clans On The Coast the Bay’s own Scottish Festival that is held on the first weekend of September annually, and they plan to be back dancing at the festival once again in September 2018. The dancers from the studio also showcased their Highland Dancing at the St Philip’s Christian College Founders Fair early in April. By Marian SAMPSON
