The group of attendees were treated to three hours of congenial comradery and storytelling. Each Digger present at the event gave their name and a brief tale of their time in the military. RAAF Warrant Officer/Air Combat group Rudi Vitasz was the main guest speaker. He spoke of the changing roles in the Airforce, and gave an example of a female officer in USA who is a mother to three children at night, and flying a drone by day in a warfare role, showing a distinct conflict of emotions by those present. CPL Meredith Wilson was given the prestigious role of being the bugler for the event. Vic Jones, President of the local RSL, took charge of the formalities of the day. Raymond Terrace Lions Club shouted the Servicemen and Servicewomen their meal, and presented them with a ‘long neck’ to take home. Judith Bee, President of Raymond Terrace Lions Club, told News Of The Area, “It was a great night, and as usual enjoyed by everyone attending.” “A special evening to honour our servicemen and servicewomen, both past and present.” By Rachael VAUGHAN Bugle Cpl Meredith Wilson, with RAAF Warrant Officer Rudi Vitasz and his wife Natalli.
