Police investigating man’s death release COMFIT image and vehicle image – Peakhurst

Police investigating the death of a man who was attempting to stop his van from being stolen at Peakhurst in 2006 have released two images as part of their ongoing inquiries.

On Monday 30 October 2006, Mr Kok On ‘Marcus’ Chin, a 33-year-old man, was delivering furniture with a colleague at an address on Kerrie Crescent, Peakhurst.

Police have been told as he returned outside, he saw his furniture van being driven away.

He ran to the van and held onto an open window in an attempt to stop it, and was dragged for a short distance, before he fell to the ground, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

Police were called and St George Local Area Command attended commencing an investigation.

Inquiries into Mr Chin’s death are still continuing, however despite extensive investigations into the matter, police have not yet been able to identify the persons who stole the van.

In 2008, a $100,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for death of Mr Chin. This reward remains available.

Today (Thursday 28 August 2014), police issued a COMFIT of a man they would like to speak to, as well as an image of a van similar to the one stolen.

Officers hope someone may recognise the man in the COMFIT, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
