The recent Grand Final match was played at Taree with the team from Taree West batting first.

In a strong performance on the field, Bulahdelah set up the win by keeping their opponents to 9-163.

Geoff Matheson took the best bowling figures of 2-18 from eight overs, followed by Josh Tynan on 2-28 and Wayne Thomson 2-45.

Glen Morante and Cooper Bramston took the remaining wickets.

Bulahdelah’s batsmen came out determined to secure the major-minor premiership double and reeled in the target with no wickets lost.

A 156-run partnership between opening batsmen Luke Ayres (68 not out) and Noel Matheson (88 not out) clinched the win in 38 overs.

Bulahdelah Team Captain Geoff Matheson said winning the Grand Final was a great way to end the season.

“It’s what you play for all year,” he said.

“For the team to not lose a wicket is something I have never heard of being done in a Grand Final.”

Congratulations also go to the Bulahdelah U12 team who came away with four wins from the season to finish 5th in the competition.

“I am very proud of the team, they put in a great effort for their first year in junior cricket,” Geoff said.

The teams thank all the spectators and their sponsors Access Fuels, R & R Property, Bulahdelah IGA and Barry Bros Butchery for their support which lead to a successful season of cricket.

“It’s been a great season and we are glad to be able to offer something that brings all generations together to enjoy sport,” Geoff said.
