The Club caters the Bunnings Barbeque at least once a month and often fills in when another group is unable to attend for a reserved date.

Rotarian Phillip Marshall told News Of The Area, “We expect to serve up at least 500 sausage sandwiches every time we do a Bunnings Barbeque.”

He believes that the money raised makes a great difference in the local and international community.

The funds Rotary groups raise at Barbeques go into local projects like literacy, numeracy and internationally into World Health initiatives, like the fight to eradicate polio and providing communities with clean drinking water.

“Rotary is very connected to the World Health Organisation, when the United Nations was formed many of the delegates were Rotarians,” he proudly said.

The Rotary Club of Nelson Bay is organising the District Conference in March 2018 and they are expecting 300 delegates to attend the event which will be based at Wests Diggers.

Registrations to attend the conference are already strong with 220 Rotarians from the wider Rotary District are booked in to attend the event.

The local Rotarians are looking forward to showcasing everything that the Nelson Bay region has to offer to the District Conference which was held last year in Dubbo.
