With the temperature in the low 30’s a brisk north-easterly made conditions tricky. The results were as follows; Stewart Sturrock 31, Vic Garlick 21. Col Saillard 31, Henry Dallas 12. Merv Mills 31, Graeme Watkins 5. David Perry 31, Tony Coomer 21. Danny Johnson 31, Noel Jackson 24. Doug Andrews enjoyed a forfeit and Gary Wynne had a bye. 28 January: The second round of the Club Minor Singles was played today with some unpredictable results. Dennis Wilberforce hit a rut when reaching 12 points and remained there for 9 ends. Ken Devlin, his opponent, taking the match 31-14. Ross Barry outgunned Graham Kelly 31-10. Neil Kibble piled on too many early points and led all the way in his match against Greg Smith. Neil won 31-21. Dave Perry continued on his winning way accounting for Doug Andrews 31-20. Gary Wynne will long remember his match against Merv Mills. A bulldog attitude saw Gary Home 31-26 in a brilliant game. Danny Johnson will have to wait another year to contest this title as Col Saiilard, playing some brilliant draw bowls was too consistent over 34 ends to win 31-25. Col will be one to watch during the remainder of the tournament. Next week will see some great match-ups and some fine bowling. In other news, Nominations are open for the Minor Pairs with the first round commencing on 24 February. The Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club commences their Pennant season this week. We wish them well. By The JAFFA
