Now in its fourth year, the event was named after the late Bob Royal,a tireless community worker.

Lions Club member Mike Miles explains, “To give the younger entrants more of a chance this year, only those 15 years of age and under will be allowed to weigh in whiting in both the red spot and sand whiting categories.”

“The open division will be reserved for flathead only,” he said.

The competition will be run over the weekend of 20 and 21 January, 2018.

The fishing zone extends from Salt Ash down Tilligerry Creek and around Lemon Tree Passage (LTP) and back up to Oyster Cove.

Anglers can fish either from the bank or from boats. Sanctuary zones are ‘no go’ areas and are clearly marked on maps and defined by buoys.

Registration will be taken behind the boat ramp at LTP on both days between 8.30am and 10am and the weigh in will at the Tilligerry RSL between 4pm and 5pm on the Sunday.

Entry fees are $5 for children, $10 for adults and $20 for families.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the makeover of Centennial Park along Tanilba’s foreshore – a project initiated by Tilligerry Lions Club.
