Bringing together a small group of former choristers who have joined to sing and have fun while keeping themselves and others entertained at their retirement village. Gwen who was a famous Musical Comedy star in her heyday, told News Of The Area, “Just because one is living in a retirement village, it doesn’t mean you are retired from living to the full, having fun dressing up and planning events.” She believes that singing together also has many health benefits- it boosts the immune and breathing systems, aids in memory retention, posture and self-confidence. Ron and Diana Souter who spent many years as a part of the Seaside Singers were also co-opted to assist with the Village Singers’ first concert which truly delighted the residents and staff. Diana Souter told News Of The Area, “It was an absolute joy to work with the Village Singers and to see them enjoy themselves is a real privilege.” Gwen welcomes more singers and would love to hear from other retirement village residents who would like to join her little choir.
