The performance was delivered tying the modern materialism of Christmas to the biblical story of Joseph and Mary and God’s gift to the world of Jesus Christ.

Father Brian told News Of The Area, “It has been five years since I left this parish and it was hard to leave this community, I wish the community of Port Stephens a happy, holy and celebratory Christmas.”

He believes that like the story in the children’s performance of the story, we should look beyond the Christmas gifts and look at the gift of spending time together that Christmas give us all.

Helen Bourne the Schools’ Principal told News Of The Area, “Coming together today with the school community was an amazing way to celebrate the season, looking at more than the gifts we give and receive.”

She believes that in celebrating the Christmas story in this way children can see why the giving of gifts has become important.

The students and staff have been working on a few projects where they are giving to others, which she said, “Is something we just do, and we encourage the children to be proud of giving to people that are less fortunate.
