The students were asked to bring in non-perishable food items to donate to a local charity group to make up food hampers to assist struggling families at Christmas time.

The students and staff collectively gathered an impressive thirty boxes of food to be donated to families in need this Christmas.

The school collected for the Salvation Army Raymond Terrace Hope Centre, and have been participating in the collection for eight year consecutively.

The Hope Centre will ensure the donated goods will go to helping families in Port Stephens who would otherwise be struggling at Christmas time.

Heather Buckingham from St John’s Anglican church said, “Raymond Terrace Public School has always been a great supporter of our emergency food relief at St John’s Anglican Church.”

“All the food goes to local families in need in our local area.”

“We do live in a wonderful community, and this collection by the school goes a long way in reminding children about the joy of giving,” she said.

The Salvation Army Raymond Terrace Hope Centre told News Of The Area, “This Food will go a long way to making Christmas time better for families who are less fortunate.”

“We cannot thank Raymond Terrace Public School students, staff and families enough for their support in this practical way.”
