Today it delivers aeromedical search, rescue and inter-hospital transfers to care for communities from north of the Hawkesbury River, to the Queensland border.

The Service is approaching 1,500 missions per year, with a Doctor and Paramedic on board every flight.

The Service is jointly funded by the NSW Government, corporate partnerships and community support, ensuring no-one has to pay.

Neddie Billett, Secretary WRHS Port Stephens Support Group, told News Of The Area, “Volunteering is very satisfying and worthwhile, and Angel Billy Golf Classic along with all events that we organise happens only with the combined hard work of all our volunteers, is very much a team effort, it is an honour to be involved with WRHS.”

Fundraising is a large part of community support and this year is the 20th anniversary of the Angel Billy Golf Classic, held 26 November, Nelson Bay Golf Club.

The Port Stephens Support Group which covers all areas of Port Stephens, hosts the day with the generous support of local businesses for prizes and has to date contributed $600,000 to the WRHS from the golf day alone.

The wonderful group of volunteers give their time selflessly to help organise and work on this day to ensure that everything possible goes smoothly.

Port Stephens Toyota once again are on board with the “hole in one” car along with Harvey Norman Salamander Bay, Bunnings Taylors Beach, Telstra Salamander Bay, Aqua Mantra Holiday Apartments, Hamilton Island Holidays, Woolworths, South Pacific Laundry, Nelson Bay Golf Club and many more.

Entries are now open and registration forms can be found at www.nelsonbaygolf.com.

Come along and enjoy a great day of golf, lunch, auction and raffle to help support this very worthwhile free community service.
