18 October: Today we had 37 bowlers competing for the Wednesday Nominated Triples competition with all play on the artificial synthetic green.

In a closely fought out day 5 teams won both their games but the overall winners on 58 points were; Barry Goode, Bill Thrift and Keith Smith.

A number of players are still away which has affected the numbers but should be back in the next week.

21 October: The Men’s Bowling Club added its support to the Start for Life Foundation today when 34 players competed in the annual “Kneelers” V “Grippers event.

The Club does this every year with the aim to raise at least $2,000.00 to assist local disadvantaged children beyond just educational essentials, encompassing all aspects of a well-rounded education, including participating in extracurricular activities, access to technology and tuition in areas of underperformance.

Each year, the Foundation gives hundreds of disadvantaged children and youth from across Australia the start in life they deserve.

A very worthy cause!

A “spider” commenced the day with Marie Moorhouse winning for herself a nice bottle of scotch.

Teams then battled it out on the green, over 14 interesting ends, with the aim of winning the coveted trophy.

Conditions were made interesting with some novelty ends thrown in to keep players off balance.

Surviving the combat best was the winning team of;

Barry Goode, N. Robinson and Kevin Williams.

This team also ensured that the annual trophy remained with the “Kneelers” once again.

How could that be!

Bowls were followed with a nice BBQ lunch and plenty of ale/wine to refresh and prepare everyone for the many raffle prizes and a very competitive auction.

The goal was to raise $2000 but at the last count the amount raised was in excess of $3000.

A fantastic result!

This could not be achieved without the hard work and time put in by Robyn and Scott Beaumont. They organised the day, prizes, lunch, and businesses who donated to this very worthy charity.
