Dancing, games, competitions and limbo kept the kids entertained, ensuring there were beaming smiles and constant laughter throughout the night.

The theme was ‘People Who Work in our Community’ with nurses, teachers, firemen and farmers just a few of the many colourful costumes paraded at the School of Arts Hall.

The disco was hosted by Raymond Terrace PCYC in partnership with the Bulahdelah Blue Light Committee.

“It is all about getting kids active and giving them a fun time in a safe environment,” Port Stephens PCYC manager Phillip Ross said.

“It is a fantastic night, there is a lot of excitement and the kids are having a ball.”

The event was funded by the local committee with plenty of giveaways, prizes and glow sticks on offer during the evening,
Phillip said although the event was hosted by the PCYC, “credit needs to go to the local guys here at Bulahdelah”.

“Ashley Ray and his wife Aleesha, and the rest of the local area command are the driving force behind it,” he said.

“They have put in a huge amount of effort and they have a great team of volunteers around them.”

The success of the disco shows that the local Blue Light program is going from strength to strength, with plans for many more fun activities to be held.

“Blue Light was once just discos, but we are now branching out with a range of other events that can be held under the Blue Light banner,” Phillip said.

“Movie nights and other things can be wrapped up into it, so we are looking at doing a whole range of activities over the next 12 months.”

Phillip said the program couldn’t run without the assistance of the local volunteers and support of the community.
