The runners up were Darren Carrall and BeeJay Freihaut. Vanessa Shultz landed 18 fish to claim the women’s title with Mel Smith finishing in second place. The New Biggest Species was a 300gram mullet reeled in by Bushy Carral who also claimed the Mystery Fish prize with his 600gram blackfish. Kerry Wilson, Shane Hoare, Cutter Soars and Grant Bidgood also recorded good catches during the competition. The weekend event brings an end to a successful season for the club. “The Bass Bash was the highlight being our 25th Anniversary,” Darren told News Of The Area. “The Mate Against Mate, Gibber to Gibber and the Mid Coast Competitions were also really successful.” Although the season is over, Darren said there is still plenty of work to do. “It is getting near bass season again so we will be working on our next Bass Bash,” he said. “We also have a grant for bass fingerlings, so we will be restocking the river later this year.” Darren thanks the committee for making his job “so much easier”. “We also thank the Bulahdelah Bowling Club for their great support and the use of their facilities during the year,” Darren said. The club’s presentation evening will be held later this year. By John SAHYOUN Bulahdelah Fishing Club President Darren Carrall. Melissa Smith was the women’s runner up.
