Or media@newsofthearea.com.au[/caption] Or CLICK FOR ADVERT QUOTE Bulahdelah Central School student, Shae Finch, said she felt relieved when she completed the Dresser and Mirror project she designed and constructed for the Industrial Technology Course. “It was a process of trial and error, with a lot of research, planning and practicing of skills,” she said. “You also learn lots about problem solving along the way.” Shae’s project is made from white beech with an Australian red cedar decorative inlay, and also features a modern, curved mirror frame. “It required learning wood bending and router techniques and the construction of dovetail joints,” Shae said. “I am very proud of the final product and it will certainly be something to look back on.” Jessica Lyall’s rustic outdoor bar is made from a combination of merbau timber and recycled fence palings. “I used the palings as a decorative feature and to help reduce the costs,” Jessica said. “The biggest challenge was time management, but I am very happy with the final appearance, the wax finish really brings out the colour of the timber.” Other HSC projects submitted for marking include Cooper Bramston’s dining table and chairs, Jayden Helm’s television cabinet and a tall boy constructed by Mitchell Pinch. Tia King-Stow’s bench seat, Nelson Wrigley’s entertainment unit and Matt Barry’s motorbike workbench are also amongst the quality timber projects. The major works and design folios will be marked by a team of visiting examiners this week and will account for 60 percent of the final mark for the course. In other practical subjects, HSC Dance Examinations are underway and Drama and Music performance exams will take place in the next two weeks.
