Among the group were Len Roberts, CEO of the local Aboriginal Land Council, Gordon Grainger, Trevor Cook and Graham Halley from the Foreshore Reference Group, Dan Aldridge from MidCoast Council and Patricia Garrard from the Hawks Nest Tea Gardens Progress Association. The grant will go towards building a new covered seating shed on the foreshore near Hook N Cook fish and chip shop. Graham Halley told News Of The Area, “There will be three bubblers with dog bowls as well, so the dogs can have a drink and there will be three pushbike stands.” The bike racks will be erected on the foreshore in front of Hook N Cook, the Tea Gardens Hotel, and near the Boatshed restaurant. There were also a lot more suggestions being floated by the community groups, from solar powered fairy lights in the trees that line Marine Drive, to extending the bike track and installing more gas powered barbecues. But as always funds are the problem. Orders have been placed for the bubblers, building materials and bike racks. Construction is expected to start shortly.
