Winners were decided by allowing 20 points for each win plus margins. Taking away the money was the team of Greg Smith, Geoff Page and Noel Jackson. Runners-up were Ken Devlin, Col Amos and Mark Hair. 23 June Although overcast, the weather stayed fine for a day of Fabulous Friday Pairs. A near record field of 29 players attended including six lady bowlers. Winners were decided by the team with the lowest winning margin. The Triples team of Bryan McPhie Barry Goode and Bill Heylbut managed that feat taking first prize money. They were closely followed by John Atherton and Tony Attard. The $260.00 jackpot was won and by Lon Richards and Dale Winter. Congratulations to them! I hope that the jackpot going off does not deter our regular Friday players from playing next week, when the prize money will go back to $20.00. 25 June The long-awaited final of the Club Championship Fours was played today in great weather. For those of my readers with long memories the finalists were the teams of Richard Lee, Jeff Baker, Sean Mearrick and Paul Syron, (they currently hold the Fours Championship crown), and the team of John Slater, John Younghusband, George Winter and Doug Naylor. I would like to report that the match was a closely contested event that had all the spectators on the edge of their seats. Such was not the case with the title holders dominating the contest from start and to its early demise. The Paul Syron team held a commanding 26-6 lead at the 16th end when opposing Skip, Doug Naylor conceded defeat.
