MidCoast Council’s contractors have completed works to replace the jetty adjacent to the Tuncurry boat ramp in Coral Avenue, just in time for boaties to catch some fresh fish for Easter, thanks to funding under the NSW Government’s Boating Now program.

“The old jetty structure was completely replaced with a new structure, and we’ve installed a brand new, longer pontoon to cater for increasing boat traffic” said Council’s Manager Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades, Daniel Aldridge.

 

Some minor landscaping work is still required on site, which will be completed after the Easter holidays.

 

The contractors are now installing a new pontoon off the end of Coomba jetty as well as relocating the old Tuncurry pontoon to the Pacific Palms jetty (near the Recreation Club).

 

“Over the last year, work has been completed at Forster Marina, Smiths Lake and Coomba boat ramps, and the car park at Pacific Palms boat ramp” said Council’s Natural Assets Officer, Drew Morris.

 

“Further work will start soon to upgrade the carpark at Coomba boat ramp as well as temporary mooring facilities in Tea Gardens” said Drew.

 

“We are also working on concept designs to improve the carpark around the Tuncurry boat ramp, with work expected to start later this calendar year” added Drew.

 

The Boating Now program, administered by Roads and Maritime Services, aims to further enhance the boating experience by improving the capacity and amenity of boating infrastructure on NSW waterways.
