A VERY successful Expo promoting Aged Care Services was held  at the Myall Quays Shopping Centre in Tea Gardens last week.

Organised by MidCoast Council, it was all part of Seniors Week.

A dozen services set up camp to answer questions and provide information on everything from home care to over 55’s accommodation and aged care facilities.

“I think it’s a great thing for the community to provide information, especially in an area like this when we’re a bit isolated and away from so many services,” Elsa Colella from Estia Health said.

Courtney Diamond from Australian Hearing travelled from her base in Raymond Terrace.

“We come out to the nursing homes and do visits with those residents who aren’t easily popped into the car.”

“It’s hard to access these services if you don’t know where to go so this has been very helpful,” Courtney said.

Representatives from Carers NSW were there to promote their service which has been in operation for over 40 years offering counselling and respite.

MidCoast Council had a stall promoting its social support service operating out of Hawks Nest.

Brett Scott from the Grange, RSL Life Care was handing out information on over 55’s accommodation.

Christine Heys and Stephen Argyle had travelled up from Maitland to promote their Local Mobility family owned business.

Baptist Care and Next were there to talk about in-house aged care services.

The lads from Meals on Wheels were there with big smiles and plenty of info.

“We cook and deliver,” Dan Holmes said.

“Eddie and I are also very good at peeling potatoes and washing up,” Dan added.

And making sure everyone who visited and worked at the Expo was well fed last Thursday was the team from the local Lions Club doing a roaring trade with the sausage sizzle.
