To qualify Joy had to compete in the Australasians in NSW up against other female competitors. The Arnold’s was first introduced to Australia in 2014 and is now the largest competition and fitness expo in the world which caters for professional and amateur body builders, and with Arnold Schwarzenegger in attendance, it makes it even more exciting. Joy told News Of The Area, “I’m not up against others, I’m competing against myself and at the end of the day, I know I am a better me as I have had to follow a very controlled regime for 26 weeks to ensure I was ready for this competition.” “The mental challenge is more challenging than standing on stage competing, all meals must be measured ensuring the carbohydrates, proteins and fats are in line with my meal plan, which is created in conjunction with my coach.” The reward for following the plan precisely for such a long period is that Joy already feels a winner and is enjoying being in the best shape she has ever been in. At 43 years old, going on stage this year she is stronger, both physically and mentally and looking forward to the challenges that being on stage brings. Joy set out to do this sport to increase her understanding of how to manipulate the body’s composition through diet, exercise and correct supplementation and now as the joint owner of PT Fitness, Taylors Beach, she is in a position to share her knowledge to help others achieve their personal goals.
