THE World Day Of Prayer takes place Friday March 3, and is a worldwide movement of Christian Women of many traditions, in more than 170 countries, coming together for a day of prayer each year.

Women are drawn together from different races, cultures and traditions in order to pray for the nations.

The world day of prayer creates an awareness of the whole world and a reminder that we do not live in isolation of each other.

Each year a new county and its people are under the spotlight as the whole world focuses on them in prayer.

This year is the country chosen is The Philippines.

On the Tomaree Peninsula, World Day of Prayer is being hosted by Beachside Church, Taylors Beach and everyone is invited.

The day begins at 11am.

“We are wanting to invite the Filipinos in our community to come along and be our special guests,” Bill Brill, Pastor of Beachside Church told Bay News Of The Area.

Special Guest speakers are Stephen and Helen Blake who have worked in the Philippines over the past 25 years and in other nations such as Turkey and Vanuatu.

Specialising in hands on, humanitarian work, the couple have built children’s homes, helping with rebuilding more than 300 homes after devastating cyclones.

“We want to focus on the Philippines as we pray for the women, men, youth, the poor and the government,” Pastor Brill said.

The day promises to be a special day with a taste of  beautiful soul food from the Philippines.

An offering will be taken on the day for special projects in the Philippines.
