During the recent school holidays, dance school ‘Dance n Dazzle’ had quite a few students compete at the Abermain Eisteddfod, which celebrated its 99th Year this year and is planning big things for its centenary next year. Each year, dancers enter the competition, run by the Abermain Society, in the styles of Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Modern Contemporary, Song and Dance and Singing to win trophies and cash prizes.. Medowie Dance n Dazzle students had impressive results yet again. Kyara Darcy won the Junior 12/U singing scholarship, taking home $200.00. There are only two scholarships handed out in total for Singing, so this result was especially impressive for young Kyara. Kyara’s hard work also paid off with her collection of awards in other categories. Kyara received runner up in the 12/U Singing Championship, and won five first place awards for Vocal, Folk Song, Australian Composer Singing sections, Slow Tap and Song and Soft shoe. She also took home a second place award for Speed Tap and Highly Commended for Demi Character. Scarlett Darcy had a successful day also, taking home first place awards in 8/U Singing Championship, Song and Soft shoe, and Hymn Singing, as well as a Highly Commended for Slow Tap Olivia Lightfoot and Maddison Cunningham combined their talents, and were delighted to take home 1st Place in the 12/U Jazz Duet. Olivia Lightfoot was equally impressive with a 1st Place 12/U Slow Tap, and Isabella McQualter took home a Highly Commended for 14/U Jazz. Corynne Darcy, from Dance N Dazzle told News Of The Area, “I am so proud of how hard the girls worked – their results reflect their dedication.” The girls are now preparing for their Dance Concert to be held at the end of November.
