Several local organisations support the competition. “We couldn’t run this event without these generous supporters,” Jean stated. Any medium is accepted, except for photographs. Framing is not required, but the artwork must be suitable for hanging. Paintings will be hung in the Gloucester Gallery the day before opening night on Friday, 2 May. After the sponsors select the winners, all artworks will be covered and will remain hidden until the opening night. Artists and their subjects are encouraged to attend the event, allowing the audience to compare the portrait to the living subject. Artists will also have the opportunity to talk about their work. “It is a fun night,” Jean told News Of The Area. “The gradual revealing of the artworks adds a bit of drama to the evening,” she added. Entries must be submitted by 30 April 2025. The exhibition will continue until 18 May. By Wendy BUSWELL
