Burrows’ sharp triumph in Vets Golf

THE Gloucester Veteran Golfers turned out in numbers for their competition on Tuesday, 22 October, with Rod Burrows and Veterans Captain Trevor Sharp taking out the net and gross trophies respectively.

The event, sponsored by Anne and Ian Maggs, was an Individual Stroke with a Putting competition.

The winner was Rod Burrows with a net score of 70.

Trevor Sharp, who also turned in a net 70, had the top gross score of the event with his 85 off-the-stick.

The Putting competition was won by Debbie Sate with her 27 putts.

Balls in the associated ball competition were won by Debbie Sate 71, Joe Farrugia 72, Sally Higgins, Dale Rabbett and Chris Steele 73, with the last ball going to Tony Burnet, 74.

The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophy at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Trevor Sharp who finished 621 cm from the hole. At the 6th and 15th holes it was Gai Falla, 950 cm, and Brian McInnes, 410 cm, who were closest to the hole with their tee shots.

It is Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 5 November and the Gloucester Veterans will have their normal outing on Monday 4 November playing an Individual Stableford.
