FOR the umpteenth time this racing season the Coffs races scheduled last week were postponed several days early, due to water on the track.

It appeared that the races were rescheduled for this Saturday and with sunny warm days for the rest of the week I was hoping I could actually attend a race meeting, but they were abandoned yesterday (Tuesday 9 July).

Recent extensive drainage works on the course have had little impact so maybe the council should take over the racecourse and change it into a wetland habitat for native birds, then at least it would be put to a useful purpose.
