COFFS Harbour Kart Racing Club has hosted its biggest annual event, with local and visiting drivers putting pedal to the metal over the long weekend as they raced in the Ian Brown Over 40s Titles.

Previously named the Geoff King Motors Over 40s Titles, the event was renamed last year to honour the life of Ian Brown, who was one of Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club’s longest serving volunteers.

Shane Petersen was one of the many visiting drivers to race over the long weekend.

The Sydneysider raced in his fourth Over 40s Titles in Coffs Harbour, an event he looked forward to each year on his racing calendar.

“Everyone seems like a big family, everyone’s mates, you do a lot of racing on the track, but it’s beers and laughs afterwards, it’s good times,” he said.

“I look forward to it, and it’s on the calendar each year, and it’s something we all travel away for and have a good time.

“The track is a really good track, it’s fun to drive the track, and it’s a good social weekend away.”

Petersen took out the TaG Lights title, and said he had previous success at the Coffs track.

“In previous years I’ve won TaG Restricted Lights.

“It’s my favourite track and I love coming up here, it’s a pretty special place as I also have a lot of family here,” he said.
