The quest is a public speaking event where students deliver speeches as well as responding to two impromptu questions in a competition to find the best public speaker. The speeches can be rehearsed, however the ability to communicate effectively while thinking on one’s feet can be a much harder task. Lions Chairman Neil Goldthorpe told News Of The Area, “Two talented students, Jeanne-Ann Dendle and Braiven Megallon, from Raymond Terrace based high Schools took part.” 30 Lions, along with the student’s parents and family members and school representatives were entertained by the participants’ speeches and responses to the impromptu questions. “The Judges had a very close decision however they determined that the most deserving of the Youth Of The Year Public Speaking Award was Braiven Megallon of Hunter River High School who was presented with the award.” By Marian SAMPSON
