Bulahdelah’s Cenotaph gets refurbished in time for ANZAC Day Bulahdelah, Wootton, Nerong by NOTA - April 20, 2016 When driving up Meade Street in Bulahdelah one may notice the shiny, newly refurbished Cenotaph. Cenotaph at Bulahdelah. After the ANZAC Centenary last year, the NSW Government established a Community War Memorial Fund to help protect and conserve existing war memorials across NSW. The Bulahdelah Cenotaph was constructed in 1946 and it represents the people of this area that served their country. It was in need of refurbishment as it was reported that the sandstone was not good quality anymore. Every twelve months the Cenotaph was needing to be cleaned and sealed and the outer surface was beginning to flake so this refurbishment is greatly appreciated by the Bulahdelah RSL Sub Branch. The scaffolding went up and work progressed over the month of February 2016 and now is complete and ready for the ANZAC ceremony that will be held on Monday 25 April. Eric Saville, President of the Bulahdelah RSL Sub Branch said, “We appreciate the effort put into the new Cenotaph.” “Now it’s my job to plant and maintain the garden around it again. “But it is up and running ready for the ANZAC Day service,” said Mr Saville.
