The best is yet to come for Soldiers Point’s Caleb Faragher Port Stephens by News Of The Area - Modern Media - January 4, 2023 Australian University graduate 2022 Caleb Faragher. Photo: supplied. OFTEN the jump from the small pond of living in a small community on the Tomaree peninsula into the larger pond of the world and beyond can seem daunting for many young people. However, Soldiers Point resident Caleb Faragher has taken the leap and has found success in doing so. Advertise with News of The Area today. It’s worth it for your business. Message us. Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au Caleb attended St Michael’s Primary and throughout his high school years, spent much of his time volunteering with Birubi Point SLSC, doing monthly patrols, water safety for Nippers, providing training for other members of the club in first aid and rescue techniques, and organising and participating in weekly board training sessions for young cadets. Four years ago, Caleb took the huge leap out of the Bay, to pursue a University degree. “I studied a Bachelor of International Security Studies with a minor in Global Security at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra for four years,” Caleb Faragher told News Of The Area. Caleb hopes to work for the Australian Government in the departments that pertain to his field of study such as Defence, Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, or the Attorney-General’s Department. “I am thankful for my time in the Bay, it was an extremely formative time of my life, it taught me the value of hardwork, of community, and of giving back and contributing to the lives of the people around me,” Caleb said. While studying, Caleb was a volunteer for the ANU Society for the United Nations, a society for students who were interested in international relations and security, organising social events, networking events, and academic panels. Caleb also organised Model United Nations events, which were simulations of real life United Nations committees (i.e. the UN Security Council) where students would have the opportunity to participate as a country and debate and discuss a particular topic (i.e the proliferation of nuclear weapons). Caleb also helped organise ANU’s university level Model UN Conference and the Australian National Model United Nations Conference in 2022. News Of The Area wishes Caleb, Port Stephens school leavers and all recent university graduates all the best with their future plans and endeavours.
