While the award program has been running for 37 years, this is the first time Ampol has awarded the overall best all-rounder prize to one student in each state.

Amber said she was “‘shocked and surprised,” but also “very proud” to have won the award.

“I always took advantage of the opportunities that were available,” Amber told News Of The Area.

“My mother believed that having a broad range of experiences was important and she always encouraged me to get involved and do my best.”

Amber said the prize will help with her plans to begin a mathematics teaching degree at the University of Newcastle next year.

Amber was honoured to receive her award from former Bulahdelah Central School student, Ampol Marine Compliance Specialist Trent Styles, at the school presentation assembly.

Ampol Managing Director and CEO Matt Halliday said the company was proud to celebrate the achievements of Australia’s emerging leaders in the classroom, on the sporting field, with arts and culture and across the community.

“Ampol is a proud Australian company and this program forms part of our commitment to supporting communities and recognising the best all-round achievements of our young leaders across the country,” Mr Halliday said.

“Everyone at Ampol wishes to congratulate our winners for this well-deserved recognition.”
