I would like to comment on an article placed in your opinion and letters section. I can remember reading a few years ago on Denise Knights comment that she wanted all supermarkets to have coin operated trolleys. Never Happened. My local shopping centre Moonee Beach has always had coin operated trolleys since they opened and they are great. You don’t see any trolleys in the streets . Best thing they did with trolleys. In other towns they have trolleys that lock when you try to remove them from the car parks. Surely the cost would be minimal compared to losing them in creeks etc. regards Susan Tierney Reply
I’m your italian follower and one of the many koala lovers and advocates around the world. Every koala counts in Victoria, NSW, Queensland, South Australia and every koala in Australia deserves protection. Are you aware of the development at Mt Gilead- Figtree Hill Campbelltown, that is threatening the local koala colony in Campbelltown and Macarthur area.? Save Sydney’s Koalas group put forward a epetition and requires 20,000 signatures to enable it to be debated in the NSW Parliament. A further 5000 signatures are still needed – by early November 2022 – two weeks away. It can only be signed by NSW residents. The petition is asking for: 1. Declare an Upper Georges River Koala National Park, 2. Stop the rezoning of Stage 2 of the Gilead development and review the approval of Stage 1 , 3. Build five effective Koala crossings on Appin Road and 4. Implement minimum 450m wide Koala corridors across the rivers and creeks of Macarthur. You know well that It is essential that the matters raised in the petition are debated, and that NSW Planning apply their raccomandations for Koala protections to the site. This development in South Western Sydney is clearing beautiful old growth koala habitat trees and essential wildlife corridors, and WILL result in local extinction of the koala population if these measures are not implemented immediately. I wonder if you could put up the epetition on your social media Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and ask your members, followers, friends and parents in NSW if they would sign it too. This is the last chance for South West Sydneys koalas. Just one minute of your time signing and sharing this petition could help change the course of natural history in Australia – for the better. Every koala counts! Thank you for your help Kind regards. KLM- Koalalivesmatter //savesydneyskoalas //stopextinction //koalasneedtrees Reply
