Kristy Wallace has been a part of the Australian Opals team at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

SHE’S had some crippling lows.

Now Kristy Wallace is experiencing the ultimate sporting high of representing her country on the biggest stage.

The former Coffs Harbour Suns junior has been a part of the Australian Opals team at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup currently being held in Sydney.

Wallace played 49 minutes in the Opals first four World Cup games, in which Australia had a 3-1 record.

Her selection to the World Cup team follows recent representative duties in the green and gold.

Wallace was a member of the Australian Opals team which won bronze at the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in Jordan last year, a tournament in which she made her Opals debut.

She was also part of the Opals team which took part in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying tournament in Serbia in February.

It has been a long road travelled and a Lazarus like comeback for her to wear the green and gold at a World Cup.

Wallace suffered the first of two crippling ACL injuries while playing her senior year of college basketball in the US in 2018.

After having a knee reconstruction, she cruelly re tore her ACL just 10 months later in just her second game back while playing in her debut season in the WNBL.

Her Opals selection follows a solid rookie season in the WNBA.

The point guard averaged 6.6 points and 2.2 assists per game while providing her trademark hustle in her debut season in the best women’s league in the world.
